Kit Hill is in the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and we can really understand why. Its gorgeous scenery and views make it a beautiful place for a dog walk and a lovely meal overlooking the moors and the Tamar Valley.

Kit Hill’s History

Kit Hill has always been an important site in Cornwall’s history and has been shaped by over 5,000 years of human activity. From its use by early people for agriculture and religious purposes to the exploitation of granite and tin in the industrial revolution. The area is rich in archaeology from a Neolithic long barrow to 19th century mining remains and is also home to a rare array of animal and plant life.

With its 400 acres for public enjoyment, Kit Hill Country Park is an historical industrial site and an ideal place for a wide range of activities including dog walking, bird watching, kite flying and picnics. This wild, rugged granite hilltop is famous for its fine views and fascinating history as well as its flora and fauna. With easy access, stunning views, several different routes and a fabulous cafe it makes a lovely day trip. Located near Callington, it is about 40 minutes from Helsbury, between Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor.
