Plug In and Switch Off: Why Our On Site EV Charger Matters
We have had our on site EV charger for 3 years now and in that time we have nearly doubled the number of sessions that our guests have utilised the charger. Having a charger on site is a huge advantage for our visitors and most have found it to be very reliable with the Monta app.

More and more of our guests are arriving at Helsbury Park in electric cars – and our own experience shows just how quickly things are changing. Over the past three years, the number of charging sessions on our EV charger has doubled. It’s a small but telling sign of the growing number of guests choosing to travel by electric vehicle. And we’re pleased to be able to make that choice a little easier.
The UK’s electric vehicle charging network has grown rapidly too. As of July 2026, there were more than 121,000 public EV chargers across the UK, including almost 29,000 rapid or ultra-rapid chargers. (GOV.UK)
But public charging isn’t always the most convenient part of an electric-car journey – particularly when you’re on holiday.
Use the on site EV Charger while you relax
That’s where having a charger at your accommodation really makes a difference. Instead of making a special trip to find a charger, you can simply plug in when you arrive and charge while you’re enjoying your holiday. Go for a walk around the grounds. Take the dogs down to the river. Cook dinner. Sit outside with a drink. Sleep. By morning, your car can be ready for another day exploring Cornwall. It’s particularly useful in a rural location like Helsbury Park. You can enjoy the freedom of exploring North Cornwall without having to build a charging stop into every day’s itinerary.

For us, the on site EV charger is part of a wider approach to making a stay at Helsbury Park as comfortable and straightforward as possible. It’s not necessarily the thing that makes someone choose their holiday – but once you have an electric car, knowing you can charge it at your accommodation can make a real difference when you’re deciding where to stay. And the fact that our usage has doubled in just three years suggests that this is becoming increasingly important to our guests. So, whether you’re heading off to explore the North Cornwall coast, visiting Bodmin Moor, cycling the Camel Trail or simply enjoying a day at Helsbury, there’s one less thing to think about when you get back.
