The Salt Path – A Cornish Journey

The Salt Path is a poignant British drama based on the bestselling memoir by Raynor Winn. It follows the true story of Raynor and her husband Moth, who, after losing their home and Moth’s diagnosis with a terminal illness, set out to walk the 630-mile South West Coast Path. With little money and only basic supplies, the journey becomes one of physical endurance, emotional healing, and rediscovery of self and place.

Salt Path Locations

The Salt Path beautifully captures the rugged, elemental landscapes of the Cornish and Devon coastlines, where nature is both a challenge and a sanctuary. North Cornwall plays a particularly significant role, with several key locations featured:

Port Isaac – This picturesque fishing village provides a stark contrast between the hardship the couple faces and the enduring charm of Cornwall’s coastal communities.

Tintagel – With its dramatic cliffs and mystical atmosphere, Tintagel Castle and the surrounding coastline emphasize themes of history, legend, and resilience.

Boscastle – The steep valleys and wild sea here visually echo the emotional turbulence faced by the protagonists.

Bude – One of the northernmost points on their Cornish journey, Bude marks a pivotal stage of their walk as they move toward Devon.

North Cornwall’s cinematic, often windswept scenery not only frames the narrative but reflects the internal landscapes of the characters — raw, weathered, and ultimately transformed. The Salt Path film is a lyrical ode to the power of nature, human connection, and the strength found in starting over. All the locations are within easy travelling distance of Helsbury so you can relive the movie while you are here.
