Shady Walks for Sunny Days
It’s been a very hot summer so its good to have some shady walks to take your dog to that are local to Helsbury. Obviously the woods at Helsbury are an ideal place to walk your dog on these very hot, sunny days as we have the river where everyone can cool off. But there are some other option around the area if you fancy a change.
Here are some suggestions:
Dunmere Woods
A few miles down the B3266 towards Bodmin on the left hand side. A woodland walk down the Camel Valley towards the river. With lunch at Pencarrow or The Borough Arms it makes for a lovely doggy day out. https://w3w.co/boasted.hires.rats
Cardinham Woods
Slightly more hilly but another shady spot for a walk, just the other side of the A30 past Bodmin. Great views across the Moor and back through Bodmin for eating options. https://w3w.co/slept.advising.sling
Golitha Falls
A lovely riverside walk with waterfalls in woodland on the edge of the moor, cooling and tranquil. There is a great little cafe in the car park too. https://w3w.co/fizzy.whirlwind.utter
Camel Trail
Starting anywhere along the trail but Wenfordbridge is the nearest point to Helsbury, Always shady and tree lined with lovely views of the river and easy flat walking. Snail’s Pace cafe in the car park. https://w3w.co/establish.pats.crisps
St Nectan’s Glen
Lovely shady walk once you away from the road up to the charming waterfall at the top of the Glen where there is a tea room serving refreshments. https://w3w.co/birthing.cheat.bloodshot
