UK Government: “Holidays do not constitute essential travel.”
The UK Government has clarified that holidays do not constitute essential travel.
Cornish Cottage Holidays (CCH) say: “In these times of uncertainty and change, we have come together with other key businesses across the domestic travel sector to ensure our industry has a unified voice and can act in the best interests of our property owners, customers, colleagues, and of course the wider public. Yesterday, we wrote to Oliver Dowden, MP (Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport) to seek urgent clarification and guidance regarding travel to and from self-catering accommodation in these circumstances.”
Following this, the Government has now updated their guidance:
Essential travel does not include visits to second homes, camp sites, caravan parks or similar, whether for isolation purposes or holidays. People should remain in their primary residence. Not taking these steps puts additional pressure on communities and services that are already at risk.

CCH has said:
On 23rd March 2020, the government issued the instruction that everyone must stay at home. Therefore, you will not be able to travel to your holiday destination. Supporting our customers through this period is our primary concern, and we will allow any customer impacted to amend their booking through your account and our usual amendment fee waived.
