Vegetarian Food – Eating out in Cornwall – Part 1

I love vegetarian food. It is the most important part of my planning process when it comes to days out. My first question in the event of a trip is always, what’s the plan for lunch? The only problem is, I’m vegetarian, and not everywhere offers a wide enough selection of good vegetarian meals. Hopefully in this series of blog posts I will be able to help you so you will never be disappointed by the one token vegetarian option again!

If you have read our blog before you are likely to know that we at Helsbury love Boscastle. The first restaurant to feature in this list is one of our favourite spots from one of our favourite places…

The Wellington Hotel

The Wellington is a beautiful pub overlooking Boscastle harbour. Their website says that they are “one of the oldest coaching inns in the region, dating back to the 16th century”. A coaching inn was somewhere that people who were travelling would be able to rest with accommodation, not only for them, but also their horse. This authentic view into Cornish history makes The Wellington a special and magical place to eat.

The Food

We love going to The Wellington for dinner for even events because the atmosphere is wonderful, the space is beautiful and the is delicious. As a vegetarian, I know how intrinsic it is for somewhere to have good vegetarian food options; fear not. One of the main reasons we continue to return to The Wellington is because of their amazing vegetarian options. My personal favourite is the breaded halloumi salad which I adore! If you are vegan, however, this won’t appeal to you. The Wellington has an entire vegan menu with options such as the Chickpea and Beetroot Burger, Tomato and Olive Linguini and Wok Fried Vegetables. There are even more vegetarian options in the “From The Garden” section of the dining menu.
