Cornwall at Christmas is so special. The cosy fireplaces, the seasonal walks through pine woods and the beautiful Christmas markets make Cornish winters feel like a fairy tale.
Wilsey Woods
Walking through a pine wood feels even more magical at Christmas. Wilsey Woods is a beautiful pine wood near Hallworthy. It can be accessed from the A395 and you are likely to pass it whilst on your way to Helsbury.
Wrap up warm and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Once back at Helsbury, you can cuddle up in front of a fire with a hot drink and make the most of your Cornish Christmas.
Heligan Night Gardens
The Lost Gardens of Heligan will once again be putting on their Night Gardens display. This is a beautiful display of lights which illuminates the Lost Gardens. Last year, we attended the event for the first time and were blown away. We could not recommend it more. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are an hours drive from Helsbury. We can guarantee that they are absolutely worth the drive. The event runs from the 17th of November to the 2nd of January, however, they do not recommend that you bring dogs due to the nature of the event which includes fire installations.
Heligan offers lots of Christmas activities including Lantern Making Workshops and Christmas Lunches.
Ice Skating at the Eden Project
The Eden Project is renowned for its gorgeous biomes and for being home to rare and wonderful plant species, however it is also known for the ice skating. Christmas in Cornwall would not be complete without going to Eden to go ice skating. It is available from the 14th of October until February. The Eden Project is around a 40 minute drive from Helsbury and is an amazing day out no matter the time of year. Dogs are welcome at the Eden Project but must be kept on the paths. They are not allowed in buildings other than the Visitor Centre, the Core and the Stage. You will not be allowed with your dog in the ice skating area.
Helsbury at Christmas
Marhayes is currently still available to be booked for Christmas and New Years and Westhayes is available for New Years. We love Christmas here at Helsbury. The Barns look perfect all decorated and the grounds offer the most amazing Christmas views and walks.
